Antelope Canyon is a narrow slot canyon in northeast Arizona near the town of Page. It has been carved by rapidly moving rain water flooding down the normally dry creek bed after running off of the parched landscape. This floodwater carries sand which has created a very narrow slot canyon through a sandstone barrier. The canyon is 6-12 feet (2-4 meters) wide and about 50+ feet (16+ meters) deep. Tours leave from the town of Page, Arizona and utilize large wheeled vehicles to avoid getting stuck in the loose sand of the dry creek bed leading to the canyon.
